Reading Notes: Adam and Eve Part A

Adam and Eve playing in the Garden of Eden.

Since I grew up in a religious household, I am very familiar with the old stories of Adam and Eve who were our "parents". They created every living human from their own flesh and blood, hence why people are called brothers and sisters in the bible. I really want to focus on the story line of Adam and Eve and how they ended up getting banished from the Garden of Eden. God created the earth in seven days. On his final day, he made one single man to take care of the beautiful garden in Eden. Adam grew lonely and God eventually made a woman out of one of Adam's own ribs. She is henceforth known as Eve. Eve listened to the serpent who coerced her into eating the forbidden fruit from the one tree God had told them not to eat from. When she took the serpent's advice and ate the fruit, she talked Adam into doing the same. They realized they were naked at that point. Their eyes were opened to the good and bad of all things after taking bites from the fruit. God realized they had eaten the fruit when they made aprons for themselves to hide their naked bodies. God had not made Adam and Eve with shame or embarrassment; therefore, he knew they had eaten the fruit when he saw their fig aprons. God was disappointed that these two had done the one thing he asked them not to do, so he dished out consequences and banished them from the garden forever. For my story retelling, I would like to change the plot twist so Adam and Eve stay in the garden forever. Eve will be the main character and the serpent will try to coerce her into eating the fruit but something clicks in Eve's mind and she does not listen to the wicked words of the serpent. God banishes the serpent to Hell to live out his days for being evil, but since Adam and Eve never eat the fruit, they never have to leave the garden.
