Briar Rose Reading Notes Part A

Briar Rose on the last day of her 100 year sleep.

The story I want to focus on the most this week is the original sleeping beauty story told by the Grimm Brothers called Briar Rose. Within this story, the  reason Briar Rose was cursed is because the King and Queen (her parents) only had enough seats within the castle for 12 fairies on Briar Rose's birthday so they could not invite one of the fairies. The 13th fairy ended up showing up to Briar Rose's birthday party anyways. She was infuriated that she had not been invited to the party and was not accepting any excuses from others. As a consequence of the parents not inviting the 13th fairy, she cursed Briar Rose to die after touching a spindle on her 15th birthday. The last fairy to bestow a wish unto Briar Rose said that the curse had to happen, but instead of death, she would just fall asleep for 100 years. When the entire castle was asleep due to the curse, many princes came and tried to see the infamous Briar Rose that was locked away in the castle of thorns. The last prince to go to the castle would happen to arrive on the last day of the 100 year curse. The thorns covering the castle had turned into flowers and he entered easily. When he found Briar Rose and kissed her, the curse was listed. He attributed the curse listing to the kiss, but it just happened to be an extreme coincidence. If I rewrite this story, I think I would make it to where the timing was different or something like this. I want to change the ending and create some sort of plot twist that nobody is expecting!
